richard shoyemi!

The coolest person i know, seriously. Richard Shoyemi 'the world's youngest fashion stylist' is doing major things. Confirmation of his expertise is delivered via mere glimpse of the guy, he personifies style. i first met Richard at an industry networking event in hoxton and was instantly captivated by his charismatic approach to fashion and life in general. Dressed head to toe in the ostentatious obscurities of a style guru, (see photograph, taken at 3am in a wind tunnel, location yet to be remembered) he sported a fox fur gilet (long), a light cotton plaid shirt, a sunflower yellow bow-tie, cut-off cowboy boots (sprayed gold), a gold casio, a vintage chanel cuff, a diamante cocktail sized ring, heavily applied eye liner and tapered ankle jeans.

Conformity to trend, (a comparitively one-dimensional concept) insults the very fabric of Richards' personality, he simply adhers to his own indefinable, yet intricately formulated style.

Richard Shoyemi's brilliance doubles as a conceptual dream, wasted within the confines of description. The stylists astounding ability to put theory into practice, pre-empting and creating the 'looks' of the near future, is best conveyed visually... When you see a Shoyemi outfit, you know it.
To Richard, co-ordination is a matter of opinion, he re-formulates 'normality' with his daring arrangements of convention. In a notable shoot, Shoyemi blends 50's, 60's and post 1990 couture. Pairing a classically tailored, mono-chromatic detailed tulip dress, with an insanely 'mcqueen-esque' metal belt, red polo neck and acidic blue fur coat, the talented stylist manipulates and the perplexed eye. The result? A beautiful if somewhat compounded contradiction.

At only 20, Mr Shoyemi has an infinitely mesmerising portfolio, Having been profiled in The Guardian, His work featured in Vogue, rwd and many other publications, he is a virtually incontestable force. Disregarding convention in more ways than one, he has an aura, a diva-like presence, yet admist this, he is a man devoid of pretence.

Admittedly, Fame forecasts are often dubious and unreliable, yet one thing i can safely say, is that 2008 is all about the 'creative prodigy', or Richard Shoyemi as one might put it.
